Researchers from the United States and Great Britain have proved that artificial intelligence can choose the pups that may be perfect service dogs, combining the efforts of AI, veterinarians and trainers. Published in İş Magazine Applied Animal Behavior Science (AABS).
The project is Seaging Eye, Inc. It was carried out in cooperation with the Training Center. Experts observe the character, attention and behavior of dogs in different education stages to determine which features contribute to the success of a guide dog. All these data formed the basis of teaching AI models.
Throughout the year, artificial intelligence evaluated the expectations of the offspring, and the results were compared with the estimates of experienced observers. It turned out that AI was better dealing with: One of the models accurately predicted the success of future service dogs in 80% of cases.
This discovery can significantly reduce the number of failures in helping dogs and saving resources to educate those who are not suitable for this important role from the very beginning.
Researchers hope that their work will be a step towards a more scientific and objective approach in the selection of service dogs, and will ultimately help more people with special needs to get reliable and loyal assistants.
