American scientists from the University of Cornell made an unexpected discovery – the smell of a person’s body can predict friendship at first sight. The study was published scientifically magazine Scientific reports (sciep).

The experiment was performed among women. First, the participants wore one T -shirt for 12 hours and then evaluated the potential of friendship in the smell of other people’s t -shirts. After that, the group came out at a number of high speeds, where the subjects were given four minutes to communicate.

The results surprised scientists: The preferences of the smell coincided with sympathy after communication in the majority of cases. Moreover, only one interaction changed the perception of a person’s smell.

It turned out that the coincidence of the “fragrance profiles çok shared the chances of friendship in the same way as a similar sense of humor.

Experts, the smell of the body used by home chemicals of a diet, environmental conditions and the presence or absence of pets, he said.

The study opens new horizons to understand human behavior and can find applications from psychology to marketing.
