In addition, the proton mass spectrometry of exhausted air may not only be a means of a diagnostic, but also the method of monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions in chronic lung diseases.
In addition to cystic fibrosis, scientists also investigate other chronic diseases of the respiratory system such as lymphangioomomomomatosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma. Studies on oncology and cardiology are continuing. Endocrinology, gastroenterology and rheumatology, where changes in metabolism can also be reflected in the composition of exhausted air, may be promising areas for using the method.
In order to introduce the method to clinical application, it is necessary to evaluate safety and efficiency and create the production and distribution of cheap equipment with partners.
