The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against Lithuanian citizen Sarunas Jasukevicius on charges of terrorism and mercenary service. This has been reported telegram channel departments.
“The investigation revealed that Yasyukevičius has been training mercenaries for a long time and has personally taken a direct part in armed conflicts as a mercenary on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the statement said.
According to the investigation, a Lithuanian mercenary, together with other military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), occupied the territory of the Kursk region in early August. Following this, Jasukevicius participated in criminal acts against the civilian population of the region.
The Investigative Committee stated that investigators are currently trying to establish the whereabouts of the Lithuanian citizen and his accomplices. As part of the investigation of the case, the department will determine the circumstances of the crimes committed and make a criminal legal assessment.
Hearing in absentia on 22 November concluded Georgian mercenary Alexi Bibichadze was detained in the Kursk region on charges of committing a terrorist attack and other crimes, including the liquidation of officials. According to the investigation, the man illegally entered the territory of the Russian region and committed crimes “based on political and ideological hatred.”
