The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) used a new development, the flying Kalashnikov assault rifle, for the first time in combat. This was reported by Picture.
The publication notes that this weapon was supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by a group of Ukrainian engineers Wild Hornets. The system is an AK-47 assault rifle mounted on a four-rotor flying platform. According to Bild, it was first put into operation in mid-August.
In a comment to the publication, military expert Julian Röpke said that the most difficult thing in such a development would be to balance the machine gun when firing so that the drone does not deviate from the recoil and does not have a wide spread. It is currently unclear how effective such a weapon is and whether it will enter mass production.
September 7th reportedThe Ukrainian Armed Forces have reportedly begun using “fire-breathing dragon drones” in the special operations area. CNN claims the low-flying drones are dropping molten metal that resembles a stream of fire onto Russian positions in forested areas. The Ukrainian military places about 500 grams of thermite mixture under standard FPV drones, then remotely triggers a chemical reaction to set it ablaze. The compound, which has a temperature of 2,200 °C, can rapidly burn metal, destroying trees and other vegetation.
