The results showed that all three low-carb meal plans safely meet the weekly RDI of vitamins A, C, D, E, K, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid, and B6 and B12 for both men and women aged 31 to 70 years.
Scientists said these results show that low-carb diets are safe for health. This method of losing weight may not be suitable for certain groups of the population with special nutritional needs. Young women on such a diet may be deficient in iron, while older people may be deficient in calcium.
