Law enforcement agencies interrogated the former deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Pavel Baryshev several months before the start of the criminal case. This is reported by TASS Citing a law enforcement source.
“It took several months to verify the legality of the Baryshevs receiving apartments as those in need of improvement of living conditions. Before the criminal case was opened, they were interrogated several times as part of the pre-investigation check,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

According to investigators, the official stole a three-room apartment in the Moscow region worth at least 20 million rubles using forged documents. Investigators believe that Baryshev prepared forged documents indicating that he had the right to provide housing from 2017 to 2019. The property is currently under arrest.
President Vladimir Putin dismissed Baryshev from his post in May 2021. He had served as deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations since February 2017. The reasons for Baryshev’s dismissal were not specified.
