According to Flowwow data, roses have become the undisputed leader in sales this summer, accounting for more than a third of all bouquets sold on the market. socialbites.ca got acquainted with the results of the study.
Peonies, traditionally popular in the warm season, came in second, chosen by one in ten people. Carnations, or dianthus as they are more commonly called by florists, came in third, accounting for 6.9% of all sales this summer.
Chrysanthemums and daisies also remain popular summer flowers. The increase in demand for daisies is particularly noticeable in July: sales are up 30% thanks to the Day of Family, Love and Loyalty.
As for color preferences, the most popular were pink flowers, ordered by 43% of customers, followed by red ones – they were chosen by 25% of buyers, and white ones accounted for 20% of all orders.
Despite their unusual nature, blue flowers also found their fans, accounting for about 2% of the total number of orders. Yellow flowers are the least popular, accounting for just under one percent.
“Yellow flowers are often perceived as less versatile. There is an opinion that they can be a harbinger of separation. However, we see that sunflowers are an exception and are the most popular yellow flowers. They are chosen as a symbol of positivity with their brightness and joy,” commented Vera Modenova, COO of Flowwow.
There was also a significant increase in interest in strawberries this summer, especially the chocolate-covered ones. Sales of chocolate-covered strawberries were almost 3.5 times higher than those without chocolate. The overall interest in strawberries as gifts increased by 76% compared to last year.
The most expensive gift of this summer – a bouquet of 1001 roses – was delivered to St. Petersburg and cost 170,000 rubles.
