US law enforcement has accused a Chinese-American of collaborating with Chinese intelligence services. reports US Department of Justice.

Yuanjun Tang, 67, was born in China and holds Chinese citizenship. He served time in prison there for dissident activities and then traveled to the United States via Taiwan, where he became an American citizen.

According to the Justice Department, Yuanjun Tang acted as a Chinese agent in the United States from 2018 to 2023, carrying out missions under the orders of the Ministry of State Security of the People’s Republic of China. He sent reports to Chinese intelligence agencies on individuals and groups that had the potential to harm China’s interests.
