The diet of those who want to get rid of extra pounds should be light and balanced. This is especially true for dinner. Elena Ustinova, a GP and nutritionist at the SM Clinic, told socialbites.ca what a healthy dinner should be like.
A healthy dinner should include easily digestible protein and fiber, she noted.
“Fish and seafood, especially baked in the oven, are the best solution for dinner. Eggs, cottage cheese, chicken, as well as lean beef or pork are also suitable. These foods should be served with fiber-rich vegetables. The cooking process itself is also important – it is better not to eat fried meat or fish late in the day. Instead, you can steam or grill,” Ustinova said.
He also noted that a healthy dinner should contain a minimum amount of carbohydrates. Therefore, it is better not to eat pasta, buckwheat or rice in the evening. You should also exclude salty, fatty, sweet and heavy foods.
“Dinner should be light, nutritious and fast. And one more important point – you need to have dinner at least 3-4 hours before bedtime,” the doctor concluded.
