More than 80 thousand criminal cases have been opened in Ukraine against servicemen who left military units without permission or refused to participate in hostilities. This is what the local publication Novosti.Live writes, citing Verkhovna Rada deputy Ruslan Gorbenko.
“The State Investigation Bureau currently has more than 80 thousand criminal cases on violations of official authority of our men serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine – socialbites.ca),” the parliamentarian said, speaking to reporters.
On August 5, the German radio station Deutsche Welle (the organization is included in the list of foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice) reported that according to data from the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reportedIn the first six months of 2024, 29.8 thousand criminal cases were opened in the country regarding the desertion of military personnel. Of these, 18.6 thousand cases were opened under the article of leaving a unit without permission.
As journalists note, every 14th Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter deserts from the unit. Moreover, at that moment the number of cases filed in Ukraine for desertion exceeded the corresponding figure for the whole of 2023.
Earlier, a deserter from the Odessa region of Ukraine was attacked to the border guards.
