In the Chelyabinsk region, a woman was intimidated by scammers and lost 1.7 million rubles. About this reports Main Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
According to the ministry, unidentified men and women began to contact the 52-year-old resident of the city of Troitsk one by one, allegedly posing as employees of a mobile phone operator, State Services and financial institutions. The attackers convinced the Russian woman that her savings were under threat, and she believed them.
Within two weeks, the woman, following the scammers’ instructions, collected loans totaling more than 1.7 million rubles. She then transferred the funds to the accounts specified by the scammers.
Later, a resident of Troitskaya realized that he had been deceived and contacted law enforcement. A criminal case was opened in connection with the incident for fraud.
