Glamping has become particularly popular with Russians. In the first half of 2024, Russians searched for information about glamping 40% more often than in the same period in 2023. This is shown by a study conducted by the Monchegorsk Development Agency, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
The increase in recreation centers (they became 3% more frequently searched) and houseboats (interest in them increased by 1.3%) can be called much more “modest”.
Interestingly, Russians began to search for information about holiday homes less: the number of search queries decreased by 7.7%. A similar situation is happening with hostels: in the first half of 2024, travelers searched for information about hostels by 4.1% less compared to the same period in 2023.
“Glamping sites offer an opportunity to combine ecotourism with a high level of comfort. The popularity of such tourist attractions is largely due to the diversity and beauty of Russian nature. Today, tourists are actively exploring new regions, including the north, where nature is the main attraction. As a result, interest in glamping in the north is growing even more: the number of search queries increased by 50%,” commented Alexander Polenkov, head of the “Business and Investment” department of the Monchegorsk Development Agency.
It was there before named The most unpopular places to travel in Russia.
