WhatsApp scam

Do you know someone from outside our country? Almost all of us can answer yes, so the hook used by this scam can be very effective. You receive a whatsapp: “Hello, how are you dear… someone from abroad who always remembers you fondly writes to you… guess who I am?”

A number not in your contacts, of course. Don’t bite, don’t accept, and don’t communicate because the most normal thing to do is to reply by saying the name of someone you know. From there, the scammers will pretend to be the acquaintance you just mentioned. They will also be able to use your name… how do they know? It’s very easy in your Whatsapp status, the most normal thing, by default first name. Of course, if you join a group with people you don’t know and go to see the members of that group, you’ll get a phone number followed by a name. This way, they can address you as if they know you.

The National Police points out that you need to report the message and automatically block this phone number so that it doesn’t contact you again.
