Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Day of Baptism of Rus and his namesake. The congratulatory text was published on: Web site Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
“Through the intercession of your heavenly patron, the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir, may the Merciful Lord strengthen your mental and physical strength and grant you generous assistance in further public service for the benefit of the people of Russia,” the congratulation reads.
The Patriarch added that he was “glad to testify” that the government and the church are jointly strengthening traditional spiritual and moral values in the life of Russian society.
In his congratulations, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church also noted Putin’s personal contribution to the development of dialogue between the Russian government and the Russian Orthodox Church. The Patriarch wished the President good health and success in serving as the leader of Russia.
Also Archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church appealed Congratulations to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. Patriarch Kirill noted that the adoption of Christianity “determined the future fate of the Slavic countries.” The head of the Russian Orthodox Church stressed that the rich culture of the fraternal peoples of the Russian Federation and Belarus was formed on the “solid foundation” of the Orthodox faith.
