Alexander Shirshin, the battalion commander of the 47th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), criticized Ukrainian generals for unjustified losses near Progress, a village west of Ocheretino that was recently liberated by Russian troops during an offensive operation. He said this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel Hromadske.
“We unfortunately suffered some losses that could have been prevented due to our generals’ ‘not stepping back, standing to the last soldier’,” Shirshin said.
The Ukrainian officer added that his 47th mechanized brigade was in an extremely difficult situation and was almost completely surrounded. At the same time, Shirshin blamed his colleagues in other units for the collapse of the front.
Before that, the failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Progress village area explained problems with the command.
