Europe opposes compensation from Spain for unfair dismissal

El Comité Europeo de Derechos Sociales ha emitido un fallo en el que considera que la regulación española de las indemnizaciones por despido improcedente “no son disuasorias ni reparatorias”, según ha adelantado este lunes en rueda de prensa UGT, el sindicato cuya reclamación ha motivado esta resolución.

El secretario general de UGT, Pepe Álvarez, ha adelantado este fallo, que el Comité Europeo de Derechos Sociales hará público previsiblemente el próximo lunes, que tiene carácter vinculante para el Gobierno español y que tiene que servir para “cubrir los daños causados a la víctima”.

El vicesecretario general de Política Sindical de UGT, Fernando Luján, ha asegurado que en España la situación es “inaceptable” porque las indemnizaciones medias por despido injusto rondan los 9.000 euros, lo que “no tiene carácter disuasorio ni restaurador”. “Despedir sin causa y de manera arbitraria sale de demasiado fácil”, ha dicho.
