Vnukovo airport workers stopped a 42-year-old Russian woman with radioactive luggage. About this Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federation reported on the official Telegram channel.

Investigators found black sand in the passenger’s luggage. The woman said she had collected it on the Indian Ocean coast and brought it to make homemade cosmetics. Experts discovered thorium-232, a natural radionuclide, in the sand.
Since the import of such substances into Russia is prohibited by the decision of Rospotrebnadzor, the sand was confiscated and placed in a special room for long-term storage.
