A fire at a facility in South Korea could affect Ukraine’s supply of lithium batteries for FPV drones. Dmitry Kuzyakin, General Director of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCBR) talked about this in an interview. TASS.
“Failure of this facility will have a negative impact on supply and prices. This will affect the supply of components for FPV drones used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Kuzyakin noted that there will also be difficulties in supplying to other foreign countries.
According to him, FPV drones require high-current batteries exceeding 100C, and 120C is considered the standard. The head of the Central Design Bureau added that high-current lithium batteries allow FPV drones to maneuver, carry cargo and maintain flight.
Currently, only South Korea and Japan have the technology to produce such lithium batteries. According to Kuzyakin, Russian manufacturers buy batteries from China, where their components are assembled under global brands.
The fire at the Aricell factory in Hwaseong started on the morning of June 24. As a result of the fire, the warehouse where approximately 35 thousand lithium batteries were stored was reduced to ashes.
Former commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine statedThat the Russian Federation has an advantage in the use of FPV drones.
