Rising water levels in the world’s oceans and human economic activity may lead to a decline in the Azov and Black Sea coasts. This was stated by Alexander Ioshpa, climate scientist and associate professor at the Southern Federal University (SFU), who writes: RBC.
As the expert says, the Azov and Black Sea coasts may collapse in the next 20-30 years. He also emphasized that the area of the collapsed part of the beach would be quite large.
“Increasing temperatures have caused some glaciers to melt rapidly, and therefore the world’s sea level has been rising for many years. “The water will gradually destroy the Azov and Black Sea coasts,” the expert warned.
He added that not all parts of the region experienced excessive rainfall. In some regions, on the contrary, there are not enough of them.
However, soils are affected not only by weather conditions but also by people in the process of economic activity. In particular, this concerns the plowing of land on the coast of the Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov in the Krasnodar Territory.
“This will cause the coasts to collapse and decrease and the water to increase,” Ioshpa emphasized.
According to him, the collapse of the Azov and Black Sea coasts could bring a serious economic blow to the country. In this regard, the expert called for work, first of all, on the restoration of the coastline and only then on the active development of tourism in the Krasnodar Territory.
