More than 60 percent of Germans support the return of conscription to the military. The newspaper writes about this Welt am Sonntag Citing the results of a survey conducted by the YouGov opinion research institute.
According to the survey, nearly a third of respondents (32%) oppose the return of compulsory military service. Another 8% refused to answer this question.
Of those who support the return of conscription, 72 percent support the opposition bloc of the Christian Democrats and Christian Social Unions (CDU/CSU).
Additionally, almost half of German citizens believe that Germany is threatened by foreign armed forces. 40 percent of Germans do not see any threat.
