According to him, each Runet user spends an average of 4.5 hours; 22% of this is spent on consuming content, 18% on communicating in instant messengers, and the same amount on social networks.
“The most important resources of Runet are Yandex, of course VKontakte, Zen, Mail.Ru, Sberbank website and Widbury market,” said Gorelkin.
Vladimir Tabak, General Director of ANO Dialogue and ANO Dialogue Regions, explained that the amount of misinformation spread online has increased, as has the amount of time Russians spend on the Internet. He stated that 2 million of the 13 million fake messages were about critical issues.
“Counterfeiting used to be a side phenomenon, but it has gradually become one of the central ones, especially in the last few years. Today we understand that the fight against disinformation requires infrastructure, but it is not enough. The audience is not ready for such an amount of unverified information,” he added.
Tabak also provided research data from the nonprofit organization Dialogue. Thus, 67% of Russians use the network to learn about news and events in the world, country and region. Online sources are the main source of news for the majority of respondents (77%), and citizens’ trust in them remains high. He also said average users don’t check the information. Therefore, Tabak called the development of digital literacy of the population the main task.
“Every user must learn to live in a changed reality, because the number of Internet scammers and unverified information about any event is increasing every year. And the heroes of Runet are those who tell the truth,” noted the head of Dialogue.
Alexei Goreslavsky, member of the board of directors of ROCIT, general director of the Internet Development Institute, member of the expert council of the Hero of Runet 2024 award, called the situation in the world an important factor determining the image of possible heroes of Runet. According to him, “Heroes of Runet 2024” will be real people.
