The Ministry of Health has registered in Russia a domestic analogue of one of the world’s most expensive drugs, which is used to treat all types of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) in children and adults. The newspaper reports this “Vedomosti”.
We are talking about an analogue of Spinraza (international non-proprietary name – nusinersen). According to Vedomosti, the drug will be produced by the biotechnology company Generium. Data on the registration of the drug under the brand Lantesens was published in the State Pharmaceutical Register (GRLS) of the Ministry of Health on April 15.
Information regarding the registration of Lantesens was confirmed to publication by a Generium representative. According to him, domestic nusinersen will be cheaper than spinraza produced by American Biogen. The cost of a medicine package in Russia is currently 5.13 million rubles.
