Scammers use new scheme to access “Government services” 01:20

Posing as bank employees, fraudsters offer a person a credit card “with particularly advantageous terms” and after a few calls the customer is informed that he can “apply to stop the call” remotely. In this way they are trying to access an account on the State Services portal, stated Izvestia: SafeTech commercial director Daria Verestnikova.

It is stated that fraudsters ask for the code in the SMS message to reject “bank spam”.

Before that, Senator Artem Sheikin, Deputy Chairman of the Council for the Development of the Digital Economy statedIn Russia, he said, they could introduce mandatory identification of mobile phone subscribers through Gosuslugi or MFC if they plan to use mobile accounts for any payments. The senator announced that he had made a corresponding appeal to the head of Roskomnadzor, Andrei Lipov. According to him, this will help combat phone and bank fraud using “gray” SIM cards.

In addition, the senator proposed banning mobile operators from delegating the authority to identify subscribers to commercial companies and giving agencies direct access to the cellular operator’s billing system. According to Sheikin, such factors create a high risk of incorrect information about subscribers being entered into the relevant technical systems.
