When Melissa Williams was hospitalized because she couldn’t eat, doctors found a football-sized pile of hair in her stomach. According to the female student, she was eating her hair to cope with anxiety.
“He was very shy. Couldn’t contact friends. Then I noticed that her hair was getting shorter and shorter,” said Melissa’s mother.
Doctors had to perform emergency surgery to save Williams. Doctors added that the clump of hair was so large that they had to cut it into several pieces to remove it from the stomach.
After the operation, the schoolgirl recovered quickly and now receives free psychological help at her school.
