“You can tell if a product has added sugar if the ingredients list includes words like sucrose, fructose, dextrose, corn syrup, evaporated cane juice, agave, brown rice syrup, barley malt syrup. And if that ingredient is at the top of the ingredients list, that means there is actually a lot of sugar in the product.” It means there are too many,” Denisova explained.
Avoiding semi-finished and convenience foods helps reduce the amount of sugar in your diet. Also, cookies, candies and sweet sodas can be replaced with naturally sugary products: fruits, dried fruits, juices.
“Less sugar in the diet will help reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, lower blood pressure and normalize the intestinal microflora, since many pathogenic microorganisms feed on sugar. By reducing calories, you can also prevent excessive weight gain and even reduce it gradually,” the doctor concluded.
