The Romanian Ministry of Health declared a measles epidemic in the country. This was reported by TASS.
“Given the alarming increase in measles cases, as well as the large number of children infected in pediatric and infectious diseases departments of hospitals, the Romanian Ministry of Health declared a national measles epidemic to ensure that children 9-years-old can be vaccinated. 11 months, as well as the treatment of unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated children.” – the department reported.
It is known that currently more than two thousand cases of measles have been registered in Romania – the disease has been detected in 29 and 41 districts (regions) of the country. According to the Romanian Ministry of Health, 78% of the country’s residents have received the first component of the vaccine and 62% of children have received both components.
Before that, cases of measles among children in Russia grew up 262 times in 2023.
In 2022, only 19 cases of measles were reported among Russian children.
