A 41-year-old man, who was in the pre-trial detention center at the time, is suspected of organizing the robbery of former federal official Oleg Mitvol. He describes the end of the investigation, citing a representative of the prosecutor’s office. “Kommersant”.
“The investigation revealed that the attackers used the former official and now businessman’s fake passport to order dual SIM cards from the mobile phone operator, thus gaining access to the mobile phone bank. “According to investigators, the criminal plan was organized by Timofey Shugaev, who has been repeatedly convicted and was himself in a pre-trial detention center in Moscow at the time of the crime.”
30 million rubles disappeared from Mitvol’s account. Meanwhile, he was also in the pre-trial detention center.
The publication explains that one of the attackers presented a fictitious document with an application for the restoration of the SIM card to the office of a mobile operator in Pavlovsky Posad near Moscow. With the credit institution’s permission, they gained access to the online bank’s “personal account” by changing the phone number linked to the bank account.
After this, Mitvol’s savings were transferred to accounts controlled by the attackers and converted into cash.
