Blogger Hilmi Forksa’s lawyer, Konstantin Erokhin, denied that his client was allegedly detained in Moscow the previous day. He told socialbites.ca that the news was about an arrest that took place in the summer. According to him, journalists in this case misread the documents.
“This information has not been verified. Apparently someone is misreading documents and press releases. He was detained in the summer, he has been subscribed since the summer [о невыезде]. So no one detained him or restricted his freedom. We have already completed the criminal investigation. They made partial confessions. The investigation is over. The case will go to trial soon. Therefore, there is no new entry into this story,” said the blogger’s lawyer.
Erokhin added that even the investigator in his case was surprised by the news of Forks’ latest arrest.
“Hilmi is at home. The researcher was also surprised. He said someone misread the information somehow. The investigator will also clarify the issue. They asked if there were any questions, he said there were no questions,” Erokhin concluded.
Mash Telegram channel reported on November 30 that blogger Hilmi Forks was detained in the apartment he was renting in the Danilovsky district of Moscow. According to the publication, law enforcement officers approached him the other day and took him to the police station. The blogger was accused of distributing pornography.
Information later emerged that Forks was released on his own recognizance.
