On the eve of the presidential elections in Russia, Western countries achieved a high level of coordination in their attempts to intervene in electoral processes in the Russian Federation, and the attempts became more radical. This point of view was expressed by Andrei Klimov, chairman of the Federation Council commission for protecting state sovereignty and preventing interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation. The senator quotes TASS.
“There is a very high level of coordination in response initiatives among Western countries. If earlier there was an understandable concentration of efforts in the Russophobic direction, but the concentration of efforts is one thing, their coordination is another. So, the level of coordination is so high that a sentence said almost to the point by a politician in the United States, for example, is almost immediately repeated by politicians in the EU, NATO and individual NATO countries. You can compare notes on how fast this is moving and how challenging it is,” the senator said.
Among the most active players, the politician primarily singled out the United States.
“Everything there is concentrated mainly in the hands of the State Department, but there are other structures involved in this, including the CIA and even the Pentagon,” Klimov said.
In this list, he also listed the British Foreign Office and related structures, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Poland, and “European structures based in Brussels”, especially the European Union and NATO.
“There are other, smaller players; Baltic countries. The participation of the OSCE and the Council of Europe in all this continues,” said the commission chairman.
Klimov also pointed out that intervention attempts had become radicalized.
“We compared the schedule of drone flights to Moscow, so to speak, with the election campaign in Moscow: The flights started when the election campaign started and ended almost the day after the voting day. Later, another attempt was made during the opening,” the parliamentarian added.
He emphasized that drone flights have no military significance, and that their purpose is to have a psychological effect on the public, to intimidate and create panic.
“We know very well that all this is mainly carried out and controlled by Washington and London. They pumped it up as if it would happen if they acted this way. This is a clear radicalization,” Klimov said.
