Famous Dutch photographer Dick Van DuijnSpecializing in capturing moments in the animal kingdom, the exhibition has achieved unprecedented success with its latest series of photographs. Van Duijn went to a park in Vienna to observe the behavior of the squirrels living there, and after two hours of patience and nearly 200 photographs, he managed to capture the image in question.
Van Duijn claims on his Instagram profile that the squirrel smelled a yellow flower. His feed already includes three nearly produced photos. 45,000 “Likes” and over 1,000 comments. In the first image, you see the squirrel standing upright, its front legs resting on the petals of the flower. In the second, the squirrel, with its eyes open, puts its nose into the flower’s pistil to enjoy its scent. In the last one, the squirrel holds the stem of the flower with one paw, closes its eyes, rests its head on the leaves, and sinks into a calm thought.
At first glance, this series of photographs seems to capture a stunning summer scene that highlights the delicacy of a squirrel in its surroundings. Van Duijn commented: “I went to Austria specifically to photograph ground squirrels. It was a wonderful and very rewarding experience.”
But, not everything is as it seems. While the world marveled at the beauty of the image, one Twitter user responded by illuminating the story of the squirrel and the flower. This user suggests that what you actually see when you zoom in on the photos is a squirrel preparing to swallow a black worm It is found among the petals of the flower and eventually swallows it.
This statement created controversy among Twitter users. Some support @Kaliz theory while others question your argument and they wonder if the photographer is charging a lot of money for the photo.
So the question remains: Is it a squirrel enjoying the scent of a majestic flower, or is it after a delicious morsel? And last questions: what happened to the flower? Did it also fall into the squirrel’s stomach? And if he survives, what will he think of all this controversy? These mysteries remain open to future research.
