The Latvian Sejm (parliament) banned the republic’s radio and television from broadcasting in Russian, despite the objections of the Public Media Council (SEPLP). This has been reported Web site Sejm.

“The most important national security priority is the prevention of threats to Latvia’s information space, which should be based on strong local Latvian media and high-quality content of the Latvian-language information environment.
