Tarasova reacted to the Canadian journalist who welcomed the absence of Russians from the World Cup

Tarasova promised journalist Smith that the Russians would return with bigger troops within a year

Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova answered Canadian journalist Beverly Smith, who welcomed the absence of Russians at the 2022 World Championships. She is quoted by Sport-Express.

“I want to upset Beverly – we won’t be there for a year,” Tarasova said. She promised that the Russians would return to the international arena with greater vigor.

Smith previously judged positively about the absence of Russians at the World Cup. She drew attention to the fact that in women’s singles skating, no skater performed a triple axis, but she did not consider this a major hindrance. “What a normal tournament compared to the crazy drama at the Olympics. Let’s breathe a sigh of relief: there are no Russian athletes or judges,” said the journalist.

On March 1, the International Skating Union banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices. The organization explained that the decision was made on the basis of the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee. As a result, the Russians could not participate in the World Cup.
