German Defense Minister Lambrecht announced a large-scale modernization of the German army
The German authorities are planning a large-scale modernization of the Bundeswehr to restore the military’s defense capabilities. This statement was made by the head of the German Defense Ministry, Christina Lambrecht, reports RIA Novosti.
The official added that in order to expand Germany’s military capabilities, the federal government will create a €100 billion fund to better supply the Bundeswehr. “For the sake of safety that can be seen and felt, we need a significant increase in our effectiveness,” said the head of the German Defense Ministry.
According to Lambrecht, the Bundeswehr must “return all operational readiness, because cuts and cuts have been made for too long”. “Germany is not defenseless, Germany supports its allies, Germany is not intimidated by military threats,” concluded the German defense minister.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said European countries should invest more in the defense industry to prepare for a possible armed conflict. According to him, the Armed Forces (AF) of the Fifth Republic is the only full-fledged army in Europe.
