Senator Zlenko said Yamal schools are actively developing national cuisine in canteens
Schools in Bashkiria, Tatarstan, Ingushetia, Chechnya and the Krasnodar Territory are actively introducing regional and national menus in their canteens. This was stated by Elena Zlenko, deputy chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council for Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management, writes “Parliamentary newspaper”.
According to Zlenko, currently imported products account for about 17 percent of supplies to Russian schools – mainly fruits and vegetables from China. The senator noted that complex logistics especially forced institutions in hard-to-reach areas of the country, such as the regions to the north or the Arctic, to source foreign food.
Zlenko mentioned Yamal separately: school canteens in the region actively use traditional products for the area – venison and lingonberries – in the preparation of school dishes. The speaker also mentioned as examples five other entities that have become leaders in the development of national cuisine: Bashkiria, Tatarstan, Ingushetia, Chechnya and the Krasnodar Territory.
Earlier in March, it was reported that Ural Federal University would launch a new format of eco-friendly canteens, such as cafes or healthy restaurants. Thus, the orders of visitors are accepted in a mobile application – the system will significantly reduce the service time.
