The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to reduce the number of Ukrainian diplomats in the country and close the consulate
Belarus has decided to reduce the number of Ukrainian diplomats in the country and close the consulate general of Ukraine in Brest. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, TASS reports.
According to Anatoly Glaz, a representative of the department’s press service, some Ukrainian diplomats offered to leave the embassy in Minsk within 72 hours. The foreign agency will continue to operate “in the 1+4 format, that is, the ambassador and four employees,” he specified.
Such a decision, according to Glaz, is aimed at stopping the “non-diplomatic activities” of a number of employees.
Earlier it was announced that the Polish authorities decided to expel 45 Russian diplomats from the country. Russian Ambassador to Warsaw Sergei Andreev was not on this list.
The Russian side promised to retaliate. According to Andreev, Moscow is preparing a list of Polish diplomats who will be deported from the country.
