“I just spoke with Chief Rabbi David Mikhailovich Shvedik. He commented on the situation that this is an example of the name of the event and not the name of the Synagogue. For example, on the memorial evening, he said that he understood this event. He accepted my apologies, ”said Vagin.
The head of the brand agency also said that the image was removed because “not everyone went into details”.
“We have removed this material from the site. If anyone misunderstood, it would be better if you delete them. Everyone clarified and understood the situation. There is a point there and the second page of the brochure has a description of this event, but not everyone is ready to go into details. Therefore, they simply removed it, ”vagin explained.
The Kristallnacht was a wave of anti-Jewish pogroms that swept through Germany on November 9 and 10, 1938. Synagogues were destroyed, Jewish shops were razed to the ground. Hundreds of people were killed or sent to concentration camps. Experts call Kristallnacht a prologue to the Holocaust.
The new synagogue in Kaliningrad opened on November 8, 2018, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the large-scale Jewish pogroms.
