Japanese researchers from Yamagata University found that a lack of sexual interest in men increases the risk of premature death from all causes over the age of 40. there was work published In PLOS One magazine.
21 thousand people (8.5 thousand men and 12.4 thousand women) aged 40 and over were included in the study. Participants underwent annual medical examinations for seven years, including researchers who assessed the level of sexual interest in respondents using questionnaires.
During the seven years of the study, more than 500 people died – among the most common causes of death were cancer and diseases of the cardiovascular system. The analysis showed that all-cause mortality and cancer deaths were significantly higher among men who had no sexual interest. No such relationship was observed for women.
The study will more effectively identify men at risk. However, the scientists noted that all the subjects were Japanese, so the results should not be passed on to other people.
