The Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences told RIA Novosti that the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka is extremely active. According to experts, this is preparation for a powerful explosion. It can start at any time.
Experts are confident that high velocity pyroclastic flows will begin to descend from the slopes of the volcano, as well as ash emissions and precipitation.
Now hot avalanches with temperatures of 1000 degrees Celsius are rolling down the slopes of the volcanoes.
Ash precipitation is expected in nearby settlements. There is a possibility that the streams will cover a distance of up to 20 kilometers and close the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Ust-Kamchatsk highway.
It was recommended not to approach the volcano at a distance of less than 15 kilometers.
Institute director Alexei Ozerov pointed out that the volcano’s dome is very hot. In the dark, its glow is practically observed.
“This state of the dome, as a rule, is observed before a powerful paroxysmal eruption,” said the scientist.
Also started in Kamchatka eruption Klyuchevskoy volcano.
