The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed today that a new prisoner exchange has taken place with Ukraine, in which 107 Russian soldiers were released. “As a result of the negotiation process, 107 Russian soldiers who were in danger of dying in captivity were returned from the region under the control of Kiev,” the unit led by Sergei Shoigu said.
According to the brief statement made on the Defense Telegram channel, the released ones will be taken to Moscow by military transport planes belonging to the Russian Aerospace Forces. The Russian command emphasized that they will receive treatment, rehabilitation and psychological help in the health institutions of the Ministry of Defense in the capital of Russia.
Denis Pushilin, the pro-Russian interim leader of the eastern Donetsk region, previously stated that the swap would include the release of 107 Ukrainian soldiers.
