Studio Something Wicked Games is expanding its universe with Wyrdsong, a dark historical fantasy RPG set in medieval Portugal. The project was first teased last summer when the studio introduced its lineup, led by former Bethesda developer Jeff Gardiner, whose résumé includes work on Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Wyrdsong is currently in pre-production, and details remain modest. Early concept art suggests a visual direction that nods to the atmosphere of Dark Souls, while the team has already built a robust quest-creation toolkit, outlined the central storyline, and established three factional forces. Prototyping of core combat and fundamental mechanics is underway, and once the prototype consolidates its components, development will move into a more comprehensive production phase.

Parallel to artistic exploration, the studio has expanded its crew rapidly, growing from eight to over thirty members within roughly five months. The expanded team brings a wealth of experience, with many contributors boasting more than a decade in the industry. Personnel on the roster have contributed to major releases such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Cyberpunk 2077, God of War, Uncharted 4, and several top-tier RPGs. Included in the group are veterans who worked on Fallout: New Vegas and a notable contingent who participated in Fallout 4 and Skyrim, underscoring a deep familiarity with sprawling open worlds and narrative-driven design.
