The popular tank battles and vehicle combat game World of Tanks has unveiled an update crafted to mark Victory Day with fans across North America and beyond in mind. The new content brings a festive atmosphere to the battlefield and the hangar, inviting players to remember historic moments while engaging in modern tactical play.

On May 9, the in-game hangar will reflect the solemn beauty of a memorial complex inspired by the Mamaev Kurgan tribute. Alongside this visual tribute, a Victory Day parade will unfold within the game world, allowing players to participate or watch as vehicles and banners pass by in ceremonial formation. The parade broadcasts through the game’s official community on VKontakte, giving fans a shared moment of celebration. Through May 12, festive combat missions return with a significant bonus: players can earn five times more experience for their first daily victory, giving a meaningful boost to progression and bringing a sense of shared achievement to the entire player base across Canada and the United States.

Beyond the commemorative events, World of Tanks has introduced the Assembly Shop, a project that encourages players to build their own tank from a curated sequence of stages. Participants can acquire a premium vehicle featuring a flamethrower-style combat mechanic and the premium Tier VIII Object 156 O, styled with the Gorynych design. Crafting a tank unfolds across 28 stages, with 24 stages unlocked by completing groups of combat missions. The remaining four stages can be purchased in the in-game shop using bonds or gold. The internship for this assembly is priced at 1000 bonds or 1000 gold. Among the assembled outcomes, a powerful flamethrower tank emerges as a grand prize for a lucky participant, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

A new branch of vehicles debuts in the game — Japanese tank destroyers. Players describe these craft as versatile machines, combining decent armor with strong firepower and agile mobility. The new line splits into two distinct playstyles: ambush-oriented vehicles with excellent camouflage at levels V to VI, and active support vehicles designed to both attack and defend effectively from levels VII to X.

In addition to the new content, World of Tanks teams up with the Battle of Stalingrad Museum-Reserve to release a documentary that revisits one of the most pivotal battles of the Great Patriotic War and World War II. The documentary will premiere on May 9, available in the official World of Tanks VKontakte community and the game’s YouTube channel, inviting fans to deepen their understanding of the historical context behind the battles they reenact in-game.

On a lighter note, a trending report notes that PlayStation 5 sales are rising, but players are not necessarily buying new software titles at the same pace. The observation comes from VG Times, summarizing market behavior during this period and sparking discussion about consumer priorities in console gaming as new hardware competes with ongoing service and title rotations in existing ecosystems.
