War Thunder Skyguards Update Expands French Fleet, Adds New Tanks, Planes, and Naval Units

The online military action game War Thunder has rolled out a substantial update named Skyguards, bringing a wide array of military hardware into the game. Among the notable additions are the first two ships of France’s naval fleet, signaling a broader French naval presence in the game’s evolving lineup.

With this update, players can now pilot the British Challenger 2E tank, deploy the M53/59 wheeled anti-air defense, and take control of the Soviet Yak-141 fighter. In addition, two new surface combatants, the light cruiser Duguay-Trouin and the destroyer Aigle, have entered the shop. Purchasers of either vessel gain access to a closed test of the complete French ship lineup, which is planned to roll out across a future update, letting the community preview the full fleet as it becomes playable.

The developers have also refined several flight physics aspects to enhance realism. Players will notice a more convincing contrail behind engines, improved stall behavior from wing tips, and a more accurate representation of the Prandtl-Glauert effect during high-speed flight. An eject mechanism has been added to the game, expanding cockpit safety dynamics and pilot survivability in combat scenarios.

The patch notes indicate ongoing work to enrich the game’s battle feel, including visual and mechanical tweaks that aim to heighten immersion during aerial and naval engagements. These changes are part of War Thunder’s broader effort to balance modern and historical equipment while expanding the breadth of naval and air power available to players. The update underscores the ongoing push to deliver authentic, engaging gameplay through frequent content drops and refinements, with more France-themed naval content anticipated in upcoming releases.
