Gaijin Entertainment has unveiled the Fire and Ice update for the online military action game War Thunder. The expansion adds new tech trees for Finnish air and ground vehicles, a modern American M1A2 SEP tank with the TUSK package, the Japanese battleship Fuso, the latest Russian Derivation-PVO anti-aircraft system, and fresh map environments that broaden strategic choices for players in North America and across the Atlantic.
Among the notable additions is the Churchill Crocodile, a British flamethrower tank outfitted with a 75mm cannon. Its primary weapon differs from a standard machine gun by carrying a flamethrower, enhancing close-range firepower and defensive options. The update also introduces the Zippo flamethrower, the infamous device used during Vietnam War operations, bringing a new layer of infantry support and tank-versus-armor dynamics. Completing the lineup is the A-1H Skyraider assault aircraft, which can deploy napalm payloads to disrupt ground positions and deny enemy advances.
The Derivation-Air Defense system arrives as a mobile anti-aircraft platform built on a modified BMP-3 chassis and armed with a 57 mm gun. Debuted in 2018, this vehicle is capable of engaging low-flying aircraft and, in certain conditions, pressuring armored targets with sub-caliber projectiles. Its versatility adds depth to mixed units that blend air and ground defense.
In land combat, the Japanese battleship Fuso arrives to symbolize naval might from the early 20th century. This vessel participated in pivotal naval engagements of World War II, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf, one of the largest naval battles of the conflict. The War Thunder version of Fuso features six twin 14-inch gun turrets, delivering heavy artillery presence to flagship-level skirmishes on the sea lanes.
Two new terrain settings, Arctic and Rocky Canyon, invite players to test tactics under extreme weather and rugged landscapes. In addition, a fan created neural network-generated artwork inspired by the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners universe adds a stylistic flair to the game’s visual content, reflecting the ongoing blend of historical and futuristic themes that permeate modern War Thunder battles.
