THQ Nordic has unveiled Wreckreation, a grand open‑world racing game that blends high‑octane burnout energy with sandbox creativity. Developed by Three Fields Entertainment, a studio founded by former Criterion developers, the project aims to fuse adrenaline with user‑made mayhem in a surprisingly expansive setting.
Wreckreation is pitched as a race and sandbox hybrid where players can both explore and shape their world. The map spans a vast 400 square kilometers, inviting driving exploration across a landscape that players can modify with platforms, rings, obstacles, and a variety of buildings. Customization goes beyond cars, letting players tweak weather, time of day, and the movement of vehicles to craft distinct driving moments.
The game offers a broad set of modes designed to satisfy speed junkies and stunt enthusiasts alike. Drifting challenges, aerial stunts, proximity racing, and explosive collision events are among the core experiences. In addition to these modes, players enjoy deep car customization, including options to alter the bodywork, glass tint, trims, wheels, engine sound, and tire choices, ensuring each ride feels unique. A soundtrack feature includes 16 radio stations to enhance the atmosphere during sessions.
Wreckreation is still awaiting a formal release date. It has a presence on Steam and is being developed for PC as well as major console platforms, including PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, alongside Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The project stands out for its emphasis on creativity and dynamic play spaces, inviting players to build, modify, and race in a living, breathing world.
