The Valiant: A Real-Time Strategy with RPG Elements in the 13th Century

THQ Nordic has announced The Valiant, a real-time strategy title blended with role-playing elements, set during the 13th century. The project is being developed by KITE Games, a studio recognized for its remaster work and action titles such as Sudden Attack 4.

The story centers on Theodoric van Akenburg, a former crusader knight who once swore off combat. His past ally is driven by a dangerous obsession to reclaim Aaron’s staff, a legendary artifact capable of unleashing immense misery upon the world. Bound by his oath to avoid arms, the hero faces a difficult choice and embarks on a fresh journey that will test his resolve and leadership.

In terms of gameplay, The Valiant shares a strategic ethos with Company of Heroes. The game forgoes base building, instead requiring players to direct relatively small, highly capable squads. Each hero unit features three distinct skill trees and slots for customizable weapons and armor, allowing players to tailor battlefield roles and combat styles to suit evolving challenges.

Beyond the single-player campaign, consisting of 15 missions, the title provides two multiplayer modes: competitive and cooperative. In these modes, teams of up to three players defend against waves of increasingly difficult enemies, coordinating tactics and leveraging hero abilities to survive escalating encounters.

The Valiant is slated for release on PC and both generations of PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Interested players can add the game to their Steam wishlist to stay updated on announcements and release dates.
