A new RPG titled The Thaumaturge has been announced by Fool’s Theory, the studio currently at work on a remake of The Witcher. The game is pitched as an adventure set in Warsaw in 1905, a period when the city was under the influence of the Russian Empire. A fresh trailer has been released, giving players a glimpse of the gameplay and atmosphere to expect.
The trailer also reveals several screensavers with distinctive visuals. One image features a living skeleton wearing a hat with earflaps, described as an alien called a solver that can actively influence minds and assist the player in combat.
Developers emphasize several key elements that define The Thaumaturge: a richly woven plot, a distinct tactical combat system, detailed character progression, detective mechanics, morally challenging choices, and consequences that unfold in unpredictable ways.
While a specific release date has not been announced, prospective players can already wishlist or add the game to their libraries on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. The publishing partner is the Polish studio 11 bit Studios, a name familiar to fans for titles like This War of Mine and Frostpunk.
