SMITE 2 Free-to-Play Launch: What Players Will Find
SMITE 2 has embraced a free-to-play distribution model, aligning with the developers’ earlier promise. The MOBA entered early access in August of last year and attracted a range of responses, with about 59% of initial reviews leaning positive. The move opens access to a broad audience while offering optional purchases for players who want to tailor their experience.
The Founder’s Editions remain available, offering a bundle of in-game bonuses and a head start on future additions to the roster of playable deities. Those who purchase a Founder’s Edition can expect practical advantages during matches and priority access to upcoming characters as they are released.
The free-to-play version highlights a roster of 45 deities, a refreshed set of game modes, and an updated Conquest map with new objectives. It also includes twenty path options that let players tailor builds and mobility choices to their preferred playstyle.
The content includes:
- 45 playable gods, including the newly added Aladdin and his genie;
- Six game modes, including Duel and Assault, designed for fast, decisive play alongside traditional modes;
- An updated Conquest map with refreshed objectives and improved map flow;
- Twenty path options to customize builds and mobility choices.
Since its early access release, the development team has issued numerous fixes and optimization improvements to the game. The ongoing work targets balance, matchmaking stability, graphical quality, and performance across platforms to deliver smoother battles for players.
SMITE 2 runs on Unreal Engine 5, delivering high-fidelity visuals and fluid combat as teams of mythic deities clash on the battlefield.
The title is freely downloadable on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Store, with the game currently in open beta testing as development continues.
