Portal: Revolution is a free fan-made extension for Portal 2 owners. It adds a batch of fresh puzzles that require players to manipulate multiple test rooms simultaneously, increasing variation and challenge. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough and practical tips to solve each puzzle quickly and efficiently.

Chapter 1: “First Day of Work”

Upon waking, the player scans the room. To the right of the exit a photograph hides a monitor. Press the red button and progress along the linear corridor, starting the journey through the new challenges.

Level 1

Activate the button, then pass through the blue portal. In the adjacent room on the left, power up the cube and place it on the large button. Transport the cube to another button. A passage opens; by toggling a switch you destroy the current cube and generate a new one, which lands on the target panel and opens the way forward.

We listen to the monologue until the door opens. The portal gun must be aimed at the correct wall, allowing entry into a portal. On the balcony, repeat the process when the gun targets another wall. Choose the device and return to the orange portal. Shoot at the blue passage toward the exit, then proceed to the elevator.

Level 2

A portal is created beneath the cube and the player moves through the blue barrier. A wall passage opens, the cube is picked up and placed on the button. In the next room the platform is stood on to access the door.

Level 3

Step on the button and shoot into the center of the room. A cube is generated and used to return via the created portal. Extend the blue passage further toward the exit and position the cube on the button at the end.

Level 4

Note: The laser beam is harmless, but the red barrier is lethal. The barrier is crossed immediately. The cube is selected and the blue portal opened. After entering, the cube is released and a new passage is placed opposite the laser. A cube is positioned so the beam travels through the portal.

Level 5

The player reaches the orange portal and activates the cube, placing it on the right-hand button. A portal is shot into the opened passage to generate a new cube. Returning, a gate is created at the exit, securing the route forward.

Next, the lenses cube is placed on the button to remove the barrier. The cubes are swapped, the beam is redirected, and the exit opens.

Level 6

A blue portal is created beneath, and the player drops in. A platform with cubes appears under the pipe, allowing a new portal to be set so the cube lands into the player’s hands after pressing the button.

Proceed to the end of the room. A gate is created directly beneath the pipe and the button is pressed. When the cube exits the orange portal, a new passage is placed on the opposite wall. Placing the block on the button opens the barrier, but the orange portal shifts. A portal is then placed under the second cube pipe, the button pressed, and a second passage is added to the wall. Swapping the cubes ensures the first one moves to the initial panel, while the beam is turned to reveal the exit.

Level 7

The faith panel is used to leap to the far side. A portal sits beneath the pipe and the player returns to the start. Press the button on the wall to lift the gate on the floor and receive the thrown cube. The cube is kept on the far-button, the belief panel is activated, then a blue portal is created in the air. The same process is repeated with the quest ball, caught and placed on its panel to unlock the door.

Level 8

Climb to the laser and activate the pipe with the mirror cube. The cube must be shifted to the button and aligned so the laser is directed toward the portal, while the passage is set when standing on the platform. After securing the second cube, return and place it on the button. Reaching the exit, place the blue portal before the device, jump through the orange portal, and generate a new mirror cube to guide the laser through the gate to the second floor.

Level 9

The near-button portal is placed and the cube is retrieved. A higher portal is created, followed by a new cube to block the laser beam. A portal above the button creates a bridge. Trusting the faith panel, the player reaches the laser on the other side. The blue gate opens, the player enters and a new cube is generated to block the laser. The bridge is activated, a hook is formed and the cube is obtained without touching the barrier.

Extra level

The red button opens the orange portal. A wall across from a blue portal sits in the hallway. In the final room, the passage is opened, the button pressed, and the orange gate is reached. There is just enough time to secure a position and reorient. The journey returns to the level’s start where the elevator had previously been blocked.

These strategies follow the same core logic: manipulate multiple portals and cubes to navigate barriers, power systems, and doors. The player learns to synchronize actions across rooms, ensuring cube placements and beam paths align to progress through each challenge. This iterative approach reduces trial and error, turning complex puzzles into a sequence of deliberate moves that leverage Portal 2’s core physics and the mod’s multi-room design (VG Times).
