Russian studio GFA Games is crafting a post-apocalyptic shooter inspired by STALKER and Escape from Tarkov, called Pioneer. The developers share a look at one in-game faction and tease the faction’s leader as a point of interest for players.
The faction in focus is the brigade, a unit built from former military personnel and security professionals. It is led by Colonel Eremenko, and players will have the option to enlist and fight alongside this group if they choose.
This unit, known as Eremenko Motorized Rifle Brigade or simply the Brigade, traces its roots to the remnants of the Soviet era’s armed forces and law enforcement. It stands as the strongest faction of explorers on the archipelago, directing major expeditions to the islands of Tartar and Ongon.
The Brigade reports directly to Colonel Eremenko and coordinates with three subordinate formations: the Alpha division, the 157th assault regiment, and the 156th security regiment. Its organizational structure mirrors a traditional Soviet military brigade, offering players a clear pathway to join and participate in faction wars against rival players.
Pioneer is described as an MMO shooter blending PvP and PvE elements. Players can roam the open world with friends, complete missions, and clash with other crews. The central action unfolds on an island severed from the mainland after a large man-made disaster, a setting that gives rise to abnormal phenomena and mutated creatures. A dynamic day-night cycle influences the behavior of certain creatures and characters as time progresses.
Release plans indicate Pioneer will debut on PC next year, followed by a console launch. Additional details about the game are available in previews and developer notes collected by fans and gaming press.
All of Pioner’s visuals and screens can be explored within the game’s media gallery.
The public also caught a remarkably lifelike bust of Daenerys from the Game of Thrones universe during coverage of the project.
